By the time most parents are comparing our indoor jungle gyms, they've already decided they want one. The hard part is picking which. All four climb, slide and swing, and on a product page they can start to blur together. In a real house, though, they're very different, and usually only one of them is the right fit for your room and your kids.
So instead of listing features, this guide starts with the question that matters most: what does your home need?
The 30-Second Answer
Smaller room, toddler or preschooler: the Magnolia.
Need to clear the floor sometimes: the Chestnut, which folds.
Big playroom or basement, and kids who want to stay busy: the Sweetgum.
Want it to last into the big-kid years and live against the wall: the Grove.
Meet the Four
Magnolia: The Compact Classic
The Magnolia packs monkey bars, a rock wall, a climbing net, a slide and a swing into one freestanding frame. The Medium is about 52 by 43 inches and the Large about 57 by 48, small enough for a bedroom or a corner of the living room. It's designed for ages 2 to 6 and comes in natural wood or one of three color options, which makes it the easiest of the four to match to a room.
Choose it if you have a toddler or preschooler and a modest space. Skip it if you need it to last into the early school years, or you want to pack it away regularly.

Chestnut: The One That Folds
The Chestnut has eight ways to play, including gymnastics rings and a rope net, and its big trick is that it folds flat. That makes it the choice for families who use the same room for everything and need the floor back for guests or holidays. It comes in two sizes, roughly 70 by 49 inches for the Medium and 89 by 57 inches for the Large, and it's designed for ages 2 to 8 with a 500 pound total limit, so siblings can share it.
Choose it if your play space doubles as living space. Skip it if you'd rather leave it set up permanently and want the smallest possible footprint while it's open.
Sweetgum: The Indoor Playground
The Sweetgum is the closest thing to a playground you can put in a house. It adds a raised platform and a crawl space underneath to the usual rock wall, rope wall, monkey bars, slide and swing, so kids can play on it, under it and around it. It comes in three sizes, from the Large at about 63 by 62 inches up to the Jumbo at about 91 by 88 inches, which is designed for ages 3 to 9 and suits basements, big playrooms and preschools.
Choose it if you have a dedicated playroom and kids who need a lot to do. Skip it if space is tight, because even the smallest Sweetgum needs a real footprint plus clearance.

Grove: The Wall-Mounted Long Haul
The Grove is different from the other three. It mounts to the wall, opens into a full eight-way jungle gym with a slide, climbing net, rope ladder, rings and swing, then folds back to about 14 inches deep when playtime is over. It also has the widest age range of the four, 2 to 11, so it keeps working long after a toddler gym would be outgrown.
Choose it if you own your home, have a clear wall with studs and want one climber for the whole childhood. Skip it if you rent or can't drill. Folded, it stands about 97 inches tall, so measure your ceiling first.

The Matchups Parents Ask About Most
Magnolia or Chestnut?
If the climber will stay up all the time, the Magnolia fits in less space. If you need to fold it away, even occasionally, go with the Chestnut. The Chestnut also stretches a couple of years longer on the age range.
Chestnut or Grove?
Both fold, but in different directions. The Chestnut folds and moves, so it works for renters and for families who might change rooms later. The Grove folds against one wall and stays there, and it lasts longer, to age 11.
Magnolia or Sweetgum?
It mostly comes down to the room. In a bedroom or living room corner, choose the Magnolia. In a dedicated playroom or basement with space to spare, the Sweetgum gives kids far more to do at the same ages.

Before You Order, Measure These Three Things
- The floor: the gym's footprint, plus clear space in front of the slide and around the swing.
- The ceiling: leave plenty of headroom above the highest point a child can climb to. For the Grove, check the folded height too.
- The path in: big boxes have to get through doors and down stairs, especially for a basement playroom.
Whichever you choose, set it on a padded mat, follow the age range and weight limits, and supervise young children while they climb. Browse all four in our indoor jungle gyms and playgrounds.
