An Outdoor Mud Kitchen, Market and Garden in One

The Sumac brings four kinds of outdoor play into one wooden station: a mud kitchen with sand and water bins, a market stand under a striped canopy, a pretend grill, and a garden planter where kids grow real vegetables. Kids mix mud pies, grill pretend burgers, sell their harvest at the market counter and come back the next day to check on their plants.

Four Ways to Play

  • Mud kitchen: Two removable bins for sand, water or mud, easy to lift out and rinse.

  • Play market: A counter and shelves under a striped canopy for pretend shopping.

  • Pretend grill: A grill station for backyard cookouts.

  • Root view planter: A clear side panel shows roots growing through the soil.

Watch the Garden Grow

Planting, watering and checking in every day teaches patience and where food comes from in a way young kids can see for themselves. The clear panel on the planter lets them watch roots spread as their seeds sprout.

Room for a Group

Placement and Care

Set the Sumac on flat, level ground in the yard or on a patio. Empty the bins after play, and cover the play station or store the canopy during winter and long stretches of wet weather to help the wood and fabric last. Supervise children during water play.

So many pieces and it was initially overwhelming to consider making them all go together, but that was short-lived. EVERYTHING is labeled so well and the assembly instructions were remarkably clear and thorough. I put this together by myself in only a couple of hours. And I am not the handiest person. It really was that easy- just follow the directions (they even tell you how to orient each piece so there's less chance of error) and it will go together stunningly quickly. Every piece matched up exactly as it should, the pilot holes were placed well too. The grandkids love this playhouse and I highly recommend it!
